crossfit
CrossFit is a high-intensity fitness program that combines elements of weightlifting, functional movements, cardio, and bodyweight exercises to improve overall strength, endurance, and athletic performance. Developed by Greg Glassman in the early 2000s, CrossFit focuses on constantly varied workouts (WODs – Workout of the Day) that challenge different muscle groups and energy systems.
CrossFit is known for its intense, competitive atmosphere, often performed in group settings at CrossFit gyms (known as “boxes”), fostering a strong sense of community. The workouts can be scaled for different fitness levels, making them accessible to both beginners and elite athletes. The program also encourages a balanced diet, often following the Paleo or Zone diet, to optimize performance and recovery.
